Position Description:
A UoPeople an Assistant Professor engages in course-related activities, which consist of
responding to student communications, posting and monitoring discussion questions, grading,
and overseeing students peer assessments. Each UoPeople course is nine weeks long and is
taught fully online. The Lecturer/Asst. Professor must be able to teach in an online learning
environment and understand the needs of a very diverse student population.
University of the People is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The
Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) is listed by the U.S. Department of
Education as a recognized accrediting agency. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission
is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Essential Responsibilities:
Applicants are invited to apply for Assistant Professor positions to teach Health Science courses. This is a remote opportunity open pan India. A minimum of a master's degree in the area is essential in order to be eligible for the role, a doctoral degree will be preferred. - Teach the course subject matter to ensure every student can master the learning outcomes.
- Maintain an instructor presence in each course with frequent check-ins, engagement, and timely responses to students.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse student population and an international administration.
- Regularly check in departmental administrators and staff regarding any course issues.
- Monitor and assign course grades and finalize grades by deadlines.
- Model sensitivity to a diverse student population, representing the full spectrum of cultural, political, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.
- Proven Experience as a teacher
- Online teaching experience using a learning management system ispreferred.
- The minimum degree requirement is a master degree in Health Science, specifically in Biology, Psychology or Public Health. A doctoral degree in the area is preferred.
- The Assistant Professor may also teach other undergraduate general courses with a master's degree that is not in the field provided he/she has a minimum of and 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline.
- Expertise is required in the subject area of the course.
- Candidates should own a laptop, good internet connectivity, and an undisturbed space to work from.
