Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Assistant Professor to join the founding academic team at the University of Liverpool's India Campus. In this exciting role, you will not only contribute to world class teaching and academic delivery but also play a vital part in shaping a cutting edge, learner centric environment that mirrors the academic excellence of the Liverpool campus. As an Assistant Professor, you will be expected to bring academic rigor, a student first mindset, and a bold, future ready approach to teaching and learning excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science and initially at undergraduate level Game Design programmes at the University of Liverpool's India Campus, while actively engaging in research aligned with the University's strategic focus on Data and Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and with industry, contributing to the University's research vision. Applicants with research expertise in areas such as autonomous agents, natural language generation and computational linguistics, machine learning, AI in education, generative AI, cybersecurity, human-centred computing and related fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities and duties:
Teaching and Administrative
- To contribute to the design, development, delivery, assessment, and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered.
- To provide academic supervision for undergraduate dissertations and MSc. project work.
- To supervise and support students directly, identifying learning needs, defining learning objectives, and maintaining a high standard of academic guidance and mentorship.
- To engage with innovative, inclusive, and modern pedagogical approaches, implementing best practices in university teaching and learning.
- To contribute to ongoing curriculum enhancement, ensuring alignment with international academic standards, research advancements, and evolving industry needs.
- To undertake academic and administrative duties as assigned by your academic line manager.
- To participate actively in the development and delivery of the School's strategic and operational objectives.
Research
- To conduct cutting edge research in field of Computing Science/Game Design closely related to our core research and interdisciplinary research strengths within agent-based research, machine learning, cybersecurity and privacy, natural language generation, human-centred computing and data science.
- Develop collaborative research links with our academic staff in our home campus in Liverpool.
- To prepare and submit manuscripts for publications in leading international conferences and journals.
- Develop engagement with external partners, including industry, NGOs, local and national government.
- Take responsibility for the supervision and training of postgraduate research students.

Skills & Experience
- Experience of delivering teaching and assessment as relevant to computer science and game design and/or other audiovisual media (e.g. film) in a Higher Education context or equivalent
- Experience working and/or teaching about games industry
- Experience coding languages relevant to teaching in Computer Science and Game Design
- The following experiences will be considered:
- Track record of teaching and assessment at postgraduate level
- Track record of publications or other forms of scholarship
- Track record of design of modules or programmes at undergraduate level
- Experience of delivering teaching and assessment in Higher Education at postgraduate level
- Experience of leading and administrating modules
- Experience of supervising individual student projects
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, with a minimum of 210 years of academic, including significant contributions to both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to develop high-quality research.
- Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver high quality course materials in Computer Science and Game Design demonstrating pedagogical effectiveness and curriculum alignment.
- Active engagement with subject specific pedagogic research or educational networks, reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Evidence of high-quality research outputs, evidenced by conference and journal papers in internationally leading venues.
