About Wattr.ai
Wattr.ai is a mission-driven deep-tech company building technology to solve real-world challenges in India's water and infrastructure sectors. Our projects span multiple states and involve large-scale government projects, connected devices, field installations and on-ground teams.
About the Role
As an Assistant Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Operations Head and be responsible for the day-to-day technical execution and monitoring of assigned projects.
The role is highly execution-oriented. You will manage technicians/blue-collar field teams, ensure work gets done correctly and on time, and maintain a clear, real-time understanding of project performance through dashboards and field data.
You will learn from and support the Operations Head on broader operational activities, while independently owning the ground-level execution and monitoring assigned to you.
What You'll Do
- Manage Ground Execution: Manage technicians/blue-collar field employees, assign and follow up on work, and ensure tasks are actually completed as planned in the field.
- Technical Installations: Monitor and support installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of Wattr.ai devices and systems across project sites.
- Dashboard & Numbers: Closely monitor project dashboards, device status, field updates and operational metrics. You should know the key project numbers at your fingertips and be able to quickly identify when something does not look right.
- Issue Tracking & Escalation: Identify technical and field issues early, drive them towards resolution, and escalate appropriately to the Operations Head.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate field records, installation status, issue logs and project updates so that the dashboard and reports reflect the reality on the ground and meet the business KPIs.
- Additional Support: Support the Operations Head with project reviews, audits, inspections, reporting and other operational requirements as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Ideally, 5–7 years of experience in field operations, technical operations, project execution or a similar role.
- Proven experience managing technicians / blue-collar / field employees and getting work done through them.
- Experience working on large-scale government projects is strongly preferred.
- Prior track record of understanding of technical solutions - installations, field execution and troubleshooting (Wattr product specific training will be provided).
- You live by the numbers and are obsessed with dashboards, trackers, reports and operational data. You are able to remember and quickly communicate key project numbers, statuses and deviations on a daily basis.
- Highly organized, hands-on with working on resolution(with customers/technicians/customer-support team as required) and persistent with follow-ups.
- Sharp eyes to distinguish between what is reported and what is actually happening on the ground.
- Comfortable with field travel and working across project sites(Northern states as of now) as the need arises.
Strong plus: Experience with IoT/connected devices, water, energy, infrastructure or agriculture projects, particularly in rural or semi-urban environments.
What Success Looks Like
- Field work gets done on time and to the required business KPIs.
- Technicians and field employees are actively managed and consistently deliver against their assigned responsibilities.
- The dashboard accurately reflects what is happening on the ground.
- Key project numbers, device status and performance metrics are always known and visible.
- Issues and deviations are identified proactively and acted upon quickly.
- The Operations Head has clear, accurate and timely visibility into project execution.
Why This Role Matters
Wattr.ai's technology creates value only when it works reliably in the real world. This role ensures that our technology is properly installed, operational, monitored and delivering the intended outcome on the ground.
