Assistant Manager, Risk Management and Compliance

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing risk management policies and ensure their effective execution. Participate in regular reviews of compliance procedures, recommending and implementing modifications to mitigate business risks. Ensure adherence to regulatory updates and support their implementation within the branch. Contribute to fostering a robust risk culture within operations. Engage in ad-hoc projects and reviews as required. Review and coordinate legal documentation, including non-disclosure agreements, litigation correspondence, regulatory submissions, and contractual documents. Monitor legal matters under the guidance of management and external counsel, without providing independent legal advice. Maintain registers for legal matters, tracking key deadlines, court dates, and regulatory timelines. Collaborate with external legal counsel and internal stakeholders to ensure timely communication and provision of necessary documentation related to legal and governance issues.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, Risk Management, Compliance, Business, Insurance, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in risk management or compliance within financial institutions. Familiarity with the Singapore Insurance Act and MAS Insurance regulations. Experience dealing with internal and external auditors. Legal or paralegal experience with an understanding of legal protocols and documentation is advantageous. Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within tight timelines. Strong communication skills characterized by calmness, fact-based reasoning, and professionalism.
