Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager is responsible for managing aircraft structural components, nacelle systems, and flight control assets throughout the complete asset lifecycle. This includes technical evaluation, teardown management, repair coordination, documentation review, inventory control, market value assessment, and commercial support activities.

The role requires strong expertise in aircraft structures, flight controls, nacelle components, aviation documentation, and repair management. The candidate will work closely with MROs, airlines, lessors, OEMs, and internal commercial teams to maximize asset value while ensuring compliance with aviation regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management

  • Manage aircraft structural, nacelle, and flight control component inventory.
  • Monitor asset condition, repair status, market value, and operational availability.
  • Maintain and update asset records including:
  • TSN/CSN
  • Trace documentation
  • Certification status
  • Repair history
  • Coordinate teardown activities and component recovery programs.
  • Support aircraft acquisition, lease return, transition, and part-out projects.

Technical Evaluation

  • Evaluate aircraft structural components for:
  • Repair
  • Overhaul
  • Serviceability
  • Teardown disposition
  • Review incoming inspection reports, shop findings, and repair quotations.
  • Identify repair opportunities and cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Analyze BER (Beyond Economical Repair) recommendations and disposition strategies.
  • Assess damage conditions using inspection reports, photographs, and technical references.

Repair & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with MROs and approved repair shops for:
  • Repair quotations
  • Work scopes
  • Turnaround timelines
  • Track repair progress and ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Negotiate repair pricing and support commercial discussions with vendors.
  • Verify repair invoices and approve expenses related to:
  • Shop visits
  • Inspections
  • Teardown projects

Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all aviation documentation complies with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Review and validate:
  • FAA/EASA Form 8130
  • Certificate of Conformance (COC)
  • Back-to-Birth (BTB) records
  • Shop reports
  • OCCM/IPC references
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and full component traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, CAA, and internal quality procedures.

Commercial & Market Support

  • Support sales and trading teams with:
  • Technical evaluations
  • Interchangeability analysis
  • Component condition assessment
  • Assist in determining Fair Market Value (FMV) of aircraft components.
  • Prepare technical summaries and reports for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support RFQ responses and customer technical queries.

Inventory & Planning

  • Monitor inventory aging and recommend:
  • Repair
  • Sale
  • Exchange
  • Teardown actions
  • Coordinate logistics and shipment activities for components and repairs.
  • Support inventory optimization and asset utilization planning.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME)

Experience

  • 6–10 years of relevant aviation industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in:
  • Aviation asset management
  • Aircraft structures
  • Nacelle systems
  • Component repair management

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Aircraft structural components
  • Flight control surfaces
  • Nacelle systems
  • Airbus and/or Boeing platforms
  • Experience working with:
  • IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalog)
  • AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual)
  • CMM (Component Maintenance Manual)
  • SRM (Structural Repair Manual)
  • OEM manuals
  • Good understanding of aviation documentation and regulatory compliance requirements.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Vendor management and negotiation capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced aviation environment.
