Main Job Purpose:
Support the Commodity Risk Management team with a quantitative market view and hedge strategy generation. This includes the collection and preparation of large market and other data sets, the analysis of data by use of statistical models, and the communication of price trends and market risks to CRM and other stakeholders. This role will be instrumental in complementing CRM's existing fundamental market analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Cooperate with the CRM team in acquiring relevant data for purpose-driven research maintain and prepare a database for repetitive analysis and monthly price forecasts.
Identify data trends, outliers, and patterns, and communicate to CRM team to build and modify hedge strategies.
Drive development of risk analysis tools to define and standardize risk metrics across the commodity portfolio.
Collaborate with CRM team and cross-functional stakeholders such as procurement and middle office to provide data driven solutions to the benefit of the whole company.
Key Challenges:
Relay complex information of your research and its impact on market outlook and risk profile to key stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format.
Build data collection and analysis procedures in a standardized fashion to allow for frequent and automated updates ability to leverage across the commodities portfolio when possible. The organization of data collection from several different sources will require organizational diligence.
Search for opportunities to expand the scope of CRM both in terms of tools used and hedge spend. This will involve a commitment to a high degree of diligence and research.
Professional Skills:
In-depth knowledge of statistical models, their application, and experience as data analyst. Knowledge of market mechanics in commodity or other financial markets is an advantage.
Clear communication skills with ability to effectively communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Effective use of Python as programming language
Experience Required:
University degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics
Proven experience as a data analyst or similar role, preferable related to commodity markets and/or macroeconomics
Experience with collecting and preparing large dataset from various sources (back office systems, excel, etc.)
Knowledge of statistical models and data analysis techniques
Experience in coding languages such as Python.
At least 5 years experience as a data analyst
Ability to communicate in a simple, short, and understandable way with all corporate stakeholders.
Travel:
Limited travel may be required.
