Job Purpose
The Executive - Tower (QA) conducts inspections of tower sections, focusing on weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface treatment compliance. This role uses NDT techniques to detect defects, maintains quality documentation, monitors supplier compliance, and verifies surface coatings. The position supports continuous improvement initiatives, provides training to junior inspectors, collaborates with manufacturing teams, and ensures adherence to industry standards for tower manufacturing quality.
Responsibilities
Material Testing and Analysis:
- Direct comprehensive chemical and mechanical testing to validate the quality and suitability of materials used in tower construction.
- Interpret testing outcomes to guide material selection and ensure compliance with industry standards and structural requirements.
Metrology And Dimensional Control
- Oversee metrology operations to ensure that all components of the tower are fabricated to precise specifications.
- Establish calibration protocols for measurement equipment to maintain accuracy and consistency in component dimensions.
Quality Assurance In Fabrication And Forming
- Implement robust in-process quality control (IPQC) measures to monitor the fabrication and forming processes, ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Coordinate with the machining process teams to verify that all machined components integrate seamlessly with the overall tower structure.
Corrosion Protection And Structural Integrity
- Develop and maintain corrosion protection systems to enhance the longevity and safety of the towers.
- Utilize metallurgical analysis and non-destructive testing methods to proactively identify and mitigate potential corrosion issues.
Inspection of Tower Sections and Welds
- Conduct inspections of tower sections, focusing on weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface treatment compliance.
- Use NDT techniques such as ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle inspection to detect defects in weld seams and connections.
Supplier Quality Monitoring
- Assist in the evaluation of tower component suppliers, conducting inspections at supplier sites to verify process compliance.
- Report quality issues to the lead and collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective measures and process improvements.
Surface Finish and Coating Checks
- Inspect surface treatments and corrosion protection coatings on tower sections, ensuring they meet the specifications for onshore and offshore environments.
- Verify the quality of anti-corrosion coatings, focusing on uniformity, thickness, and adherence to surface preparation standards.
Compliance and Standards Adherence
- Ensure inspected tower components comply with relevant industry standards such as ISO 10721 and IEC 61400-23.
- Keep inspection protocols updated to align with the latest tower manufacturing technologies and quality requirements.
Support for Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing weld quality and reducing defects in tower manufacturing.
- Provide feedback to the production team on inspection findings and support corrective actions to improve tower quality.
Training and Development Support
- Assist in training junior inspectors on advanced inspection techniques for tower sections, welds, and coatings.
- Stay updated on new inspection technologies and standards in tower manufacturing to enhance team capabilities.
Collaboration with Manufacturing Teams
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure that quality standards are integrated into the tower production process.
- Address quality concerns on the shop floor and support corrective measures to resolve defects in tower components.
Quality Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain detailed records of all inspections, including weld quality reports, dimensional checks, and surface finish verifications.
- Ensure all documentation meets the requirements for internal and external audits, maintaining traceability of tower components.

Qualifications
Educational Background:
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in inspecting and quality control of tower sections and welds.
Industry Knowledge
- Proficiency in NDT methods and quality standards for tower manufacturing.
