Job Purpose: This role is responsible to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the Switchyard and Power Transformer areas through meticulous execution of maintenance activities. This role is pivotal in upholding safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability standards while driving process improvements and innovation. The Lead Electrical Switchyard is responsible for coordinating with stakeholders and embracing Digitalisation and automation to enhance operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Testing Lab activities
- Maintaining NABL accreditation of P&M Lab
- NABL Calibration of all P&M lab equipment's
- Support in Site NABL testing of DSM / EA Meters as per regulatory requirements
- Support in Maintaining Environmental data of P&M Lab (UPS supply, Earth Pits etc.)
- Support in Performing functional testing of numerical and electromechanical protection relays to analyze various faults and occurrences.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of protection equipment.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and local electrical safety standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on testing outcomes and relay performance.
O&M And Maintenance Support
- Provide technical support during Annual Overhaul (AOH) and Capital Overhaul (COH) activities, ensuring that protection, automation and metering systems are maintained
- Coordinate and manage documentation for internal and external protection audits conducted, working with auditors to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Technical Support to generating thermal plants.
- Collect data required for technical audits, ensuring that all information is accurate and complete.
- Provide technical input and recommendations based on audit findings to support continuous improvement of protection systems.
- Support in Protection, Automation & Metering audit of switch yard.
- Support for troubleshooting of DSM APC meters, network & servers
Qualifications
Required Qualification & Skills - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering having min 3 years of experience in the field of Electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of EHV substation, HT LT Switchgear, Generators protection & excitation systems equipment and its operational procedure.
- Should have understanding with respect to commissioning & testing of protection scheme & relays for EHV substations, HT LT switchgears & Generators.
- Ability to read SLD, PSLD, electrical schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams and to interpret technical specifications and procedures.
- Having exposure related to different make of protection relays, application, settings calculation & coordination, configuration & testing.
- Knowledge of relay testing equipment's like Omicron, Doble, megger etc. (will be given additional weightage).
- Having knowledge of meter testing kit and communication test protocols.
- Knowledge of different electrical grids codes/ practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Ability to Work in an innovative manner, explore the things with out of the box thinking Willingness for learning new technologies.
