Scope of Work – Senior Mechanical Engineer (Shipbuilding Industry)
Installation & Commissioning
Supervise contractors during the installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment onboard ships, including diesel generators (DG), pumps, engines, valves, and hydraulic systems.
Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and secure mounting of equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
Supervise testing and commissioning activities to verify operational readiness and compliance with quality standards.
Engineering & Technical Expertise
Apply fundamental engineering knowledge to evaluate, select, and integrate equipment such as pumps, engines, generators, and hydraulic systems.
Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, data sheets, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide engineering solutions to address foundation issues, alignment challenges, and integration with ship systems.
Quality Control & Inspection
Coordinate with QC teams to prepare equipment for performance inspection (PI).
Conduct inspections and surveys postinstallation to verify compliance with project requirements and classification society standards.
Document inspection results and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Project Documentation & Review
Generate, review, and approve mechanical project documents including drawings, specifications, and data sheets.
Maintain accurate records of installation, commissioning, and inspection activities for project handover.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary technical interface with customers, ensuring clear communication and addressing concerns effectively.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and quality.
Support project managers in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for mechanical activities.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with shipyard safety regulations and international standards.
Promote safe working practices during cutting, welding, lifting, and installation operations.
