Position Summary:

The Procurement team in Maersk West Central Asia (WCA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager - Procurement. This role will be primarily responsible for real estate procurement and 3PL/2PL/4PL services & warehousing and distribution projects related to the procurement of industrial properties, goods, and services, as well as Opex and Capex procurement for our self-managed sites in India. You will act as a crucial business partner to respective Project teams, Site, and Facility Managers, developing cost-effective, compliant, and high-quality procurement solutions. This is a front-line role that ensures every dollar spent is professional, aiming to reduce operating expenses and drive significant savings and value creation.

What This Position Involves (Key Responsibilities):

• End-to-End Procurement Management: Manage the procurement of industrial properties (CAPEX, OPEX & Services) and core day-to-day procurement activities such as contracting, preparing and performing negotiations, and supplier management.
• Cost & Savings Focus: Own the cost agenda by analyzing spend to identify opportunities and driving procurement savings at the self-managed site(s) you are responsible for. You will perform your responsibilities using our global procurement processes and tools, ensuring the controls posture of the Procurement processes in the site(s) you support.
• Negotiation & Contracting: Lead negotiations and coordinate service level agreements between Maersk and its suppliers. Integrate Contract Management frameworks to help ensure cost leadership, compliance, and best-in-class supplier performance.
• Project & Stakeholder Management: Independently and as part of a team, successfully complete assigned procurement tasks and projects with excellent results while meeting agreed deadlines. Efficiently manage internal and external stakeholders, engaging a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders locally and regionally across various departments.
• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Drive comprehensive Supplier Relationship Management, including performance management, to foster strong and productive supplier partnerships.
• Market Intelligence: Perform in-depth supplier market analysis and organize market intelligence to inform sourcing strategies.
• Collaboration: Cooperate closely with colleagues within the Area, Region, and Global functions, including global procurement teams in different parts of the world who will support with project management, system implementation, market analysis, and tendering.
• Travel: Travel to sites and supplier locations within India, as per business requirements.

Who We Are Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related areas.
• Procurement Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years of procurement and industry experience, with an in-depth understanding of best-in-class procurement practices specialized in indirect procurement and real estate procurement (sourcing, contracting, negotiation, etc.).
• Cost & Project Management: Proven experience in Take Cost Out initiatives and project management to effectively drive sourcing projects.
• Planning & Prioritization: Strong planning and prioritizing skills (based on impact) to manage work activities efficiently, meet deadlines, and achieve high-level goals in a complex, fast-paced, high-pressure, and often ambiguous environment.
• Financial Acumen: General understanding of finance and accounting principles, with the ability to interpret financial data and apply it to decision-making.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-departmental team, with excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Language: English is mandatory; Hindi is an advantage.
• Personal Attributes: Strong communication skills, entrepreneurial mindset, ability to build rapport at all levels, capable of influencing without direct authority, takes ownership, works independently in a structured manner, handles risks and uncertainties, flexible in adapting to changing priorities, and comfortable challenging the status quo.
