JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager - Material Planning & Supplier Management

JOB ROLE: Responsible for Import Raw material planning and supplier management.

FUNCTION / DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain Management

REPORTING TO: DGM – Material Planning

JOB LOCATION: Sanand, Ahmedabad

ROLE SUMMARY

Material Planning & supplier management plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective management of materials required for manufacturing and operations.

This position involves analysing material requirements, managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet production goals and customer demands.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of supply chain processes to optimize material availability and minimize costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Planning and supplier Management:

  • Analyze Supplier schedules wrt production requirement to ensure 100% release accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain critical material long term plans to support production schedules.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely material readiness, Promise date confirmation & shipment executions.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues to maintain high service levels.
  • Work closely with cross functional team to mitigate supplier long term issue.
  • Partner with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering changes by managing material transitions.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Prepare and present performance metrics and inventory reports to management.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement best practices for material planning and inventory control.
  • Develop and refine policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Participate in or lead projects aimed at enhancing supply chain performance.

Role Specific Qualification / Certification Requirement

  • Mandatory Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management / business administration / engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management roles within a manufacturing environment.

Suitable/ Optional:

Role Specific knowledge, Skills and Experience

Mandatory Desired:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in Import material planning and supplier handling.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and techniques is a plus.
