Role Overview
The Assistant Manager – Packaging Machinery Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production process, ensuring efficient assembly operations, maintaining quality standards, and managing production teams. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and coordination abilities to meet production targets while ensuring safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Plan, organize, and supervise assembly and manufacturing processes for packaging machinery.
- Develop production schedules and ensure timely execution aligned with delivery commitments.
- Optimize resource allocation (manpower, machinery, materials) to improve productivity.
2. Team Management
- Lead, guide, and motivate the production team to achieve operational goals.
- Monitor team performance and provide training, coaching, and skill development.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment.
3. Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all manufactured products meet defined quality standards before dispatch.
- Coordinate with Quality Control teams to perform inspections and implement corrective actions.
- Continuously improve processes to reduce defects and rework.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Design, and Quality departments to ensure smooth production flow.
- Resolve bottlenecks related to materials, design changes, or quality issues.
- Support new product introductions and engineering improvements.
5. Production Target Management
- Set production goals and track performance through KPIs.
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve and exceed production targets.
- Analyze production data and implement improvements for efficiency.
6. Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
- Identify and resolve production delays and operational challenges proactively.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Ensure timely communication of issues to senior management.
7. Equipment & Maintenance Oversight
- Monitor efficiency and utilization of machinery and equipment.
- Ensure timely maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Work with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Implement and enforce safety regulations and workplace standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety and zero-incident workplace practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
- Experience: 10 years in manufacturing/production, preferably in packaging machinery or related industry
- Experience in team handling and shop floor management is mandatory
