With a strong presence across Amazon, Flipkart, and its own website, The company operates a fully integrated, in-house model covering sourcing, imports, assembly, and distribution.
Role Overview
This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of legal and compliance across the organization. You will act as a business enabler and risk controller, ensuring that all functions operate within regulatory frameworks while supporting growth.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Ownership
- Own and manage a centralized compliance tracker across all functions
- Ensure adherence to:
- Legal Metrology (packaging, labeling, website, cartons)
- HR compliances (Shops & Establishment, PF, ESIC, PT, POSH)
- Secretarial compliances (MCA filings, board-related requirements)
- GST and taxation regulations
- Marketing and advertising compliance (Meta, Amazon, website claims)
- Insurance and statutory registrations
- Conduct regular compliance audits, identify gaps, and drive complete closure
- Proactively highlight risk areas and non-compliance issues to leadership
IP & Brand Protection
- Lead trademark filings, renewals, oppositions, and enforcement actions
- Monitor and act against IP infringements across marketplaces and digital platforms
- Develop and strengthen long-term IP strategy aligned with brand growth
Customs & Import Compliance
- Oversee compliance under the Customs Act for all imports
- Ensure:
- Correct HSN classification
- Accurate and complete documentation
- Smooth customs clearance processes
- Track and drive resolution of ongoing legal/customs cases
- Stay updated with regulatory changes, certifications, and notifications
Risk Mitigation
- Identify legal and regulatory risks across operations
- Design and implement preventive frameworks, SOPs, and controls
- Partner with internal teams to minimize exposure
Legal Contracts & Advisory
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and partners
- Provide timely legal advice (within defined TATs) to internal stakeholders
- Ensure company interests are fully protected in all agreements
Networks & Technology
- Build and manage a network of external legal experts and consultants
- Validate external opinions and ensure cost-effective engagement
- Implement legal tech/tools to improve tracking and efficiency
Key Requirements
- LLB/LLM
- 4–7 years of experience in legal & compliance roles
- Strong exposure to D2C, e-commerce, imports, or manufacturing setups
- Ability to independently drive ownership and work cross-functionally
