About The Role

The Assistant Manager – Inventory will be responsible for driving end-to-end inventory accuracy, warehouse stock governance, and inventory process excellence across all warehouse locations and sales channels. This role requires strong ownership of inventory operations including stock reconciliation, audits, inbound tracking, ERP accuracy, stock movement monitoring, and inventory reporting. The individual will play a critical role in ensuring inventory visibility, minimising stock variances, preventing stock loss, and maintaining seamless coordination between warehouse, procurement, logistics, finance, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Inventory control and Accuracy:

  • Own end-to-end inventory accuracy across all warehouse locations and online sales channels, including system stock, physical stock, and in-transit inventory visibility.
  • Monitor daily inventory levels across all SKUs and identify stock mismatches, variances, or system discrepancies proactively.
  • Maintain inventory at defined safety stock levels and raise alerts for low-stock or stockout risks across channels.
  • Drive inventory accuracy KPIs with a target of maintaining >98% system-vs-physical stock accuracy.
  • Conduct daily reconciliation for high-value and fast-moving SKUs and resolve discrepancies within defined timelines.

ERP & Inventory System Management

  • Ensure all inventory movements including GRN, putaway, dispatch, inter-location transfer, RTV, and stock adjustments are updated accurately in ERP systems like Unicommerce/Ginesys within defined timelines.
  • Oversee inventory synchronisation across ERP, WMS, and marketplace panels to avoid overselling, ghost inventory, or stock mismatch issues.
  • Maintain audit-ready inventory documentation and ensure all stock records, adjustment logs, and ERP entries are updated and retrievable.

Inventory Analysis And Loss Prevention

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and perform root cause analysis for variances related to system errors, damages, shrinkage, transit losses, or operational lapses.
  • Track and monitor blocked, damaged, missing, slow-moving, and ageing inventory; share corrective action plans and liquidation recommendations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to inventory movement SOPs, gate pass processes, and warehouse compliance standards.

Inbound And Warehouse Operations

  • Track purchase orders from issuance till GRN closure and highlight delays, short shipments, or quality issues proactively.
  • Supervise inbound receiving processes by validating quantity, SKU, packaging condition, and product quality against purchase orders before stock acceptance.
  • Ensure timely GRN creation and closure within 24 hours of stock receipt.
  • Coordinate warehouse putaway activities and ensure stock is mapped correctly as per designated warehouse bins, racks, and zones.

Stock Audits And Reconciliation

  • Lead weekly cycle counts and monthly physical stock audits across warehouse locations.
  • Plan and execute surprise stock audits for sensitive or high-shrinkage inventory categories.
  • Prepare detailed inventory reconciliation and variance reports with SKU-level analysis and actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with finance teams during quarterly and annual stock audits and support inventory valuation, ageing analysis, and write-off planning.

Reporting And Cross Functional Coordination

  • Generate inventory MIS reports and dashboards for management review, highlighting stock health, ageing, accuracy trends, and operational gaps.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Logistics, Customer Delight, Order Processing, Finance, and Warehouse Operations teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ERP/WMS platforms like Unicommerce, Ginesys, or similar inventory systems.
  • Excellent understanding of stock reconciliation, cycle counting, inventory audits, and warehouse processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience in inventory reporting, variance analysis, and MIS preparation.
  • Ability to manage multiple warehouse processes and work in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • High ownership mindset with strong process orientation and operational discipline.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
