Role Overview:
Emeritus Insights is our micro-learning platform for working professionals, accessed by our enterprise clients worldwide. As AM - Instructional Designer, you will create short, high-impact video learning that changes how people work.
The role is an even split between instructional design and video production. You will decide what a learner needs to learn and in what order, then bring it to life through storyboards, visuals and finished video, using both traditional and AI-based tools, in line with the Emeritus brand and learner needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional design 50%
- Partner with SMEs, Course Leaders and Writers to diagnose the learning need, audience and on-the-job behavior each piece of content should change.
- Design learning paths and content sequences by curating, structuring, and reorganizing existing materials into coherent, outcome-driven learning journeys.
- Develop assessments, knowledge checks, scenarios and reflection prompts that reinforce application, not just recall.
- Run content and design reviews, recommending improvements for alignment with objectives, scope and quality standards.
Video & visual production 50%
- Create storyboards from scripts and transcripts, specifying on-screen text, graphics and animations, imagery and visual treatment with a clear rationale.
- Produce original, learner-ready video end to end: scripting, recording, filming/recording, and end to end production.
- Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate the production of video, audio, text and visual assets, applying human review for accuracy and quality.
Delivery & continuous improvement
- Manage multiple projects at once against design specifications, delivering high-quality work on time.
- Improve content development workflows, templates and tools, and bring in emerging e-learning and AI trend
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must have
- 3–5 years in training or learning content design, including hands-on creation of original video-based learning content (not limited to editing existing material).
- A portfolio showing micro-learning or e-learning videos you have scripted, storyboarded and produced yourself.
- Proven ability to write measurable, performance-based learning outcomes and design content backwards from them.
- Experience consulting with SMEs: asking the right questions about audience, performance gaps and real-world application before designing.
- Ability to repurpose long-form content into focused micro-learning, and to critically review and restructure content outlines for sound sequencing and practice.
- Strong storyboarding and visual thinking: translating a fixed script into on-screen text, infographics and visuals, with a clear rationale for each choice.
- Experience designing learning paths or curricula, and building interactive elements, scenarios and assessments tied to learning outcomes.
- Working knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, Bloom's taxonomy, multimedia learning principles).
- Excellent written English (US English) for scripts and on-screen copy, plus strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage several projects at once in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
- Graduate in any discipline.
Good to have
- Certification in Instructional Design, and experience creating content for corporate / enterprise learners or professional education.
Tools
- AI tools: Moderate proficiency in AI content-creation tools such as NotebookLM, Claude, Vyond or similar generative AI platforms.
- Video: Working knowledge of video editing and motion tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Camtasia or similar).
- Authoring & productivity: Adobe Captivate or Articulate 360 is a plus; strong MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Word for storyboarding.
