Role Overview:

AM– HR Operations will be responsible for ensuring seamless execution of key HR operations processes, including Payroll & Compliance, Onboarding, Background Verification (BGV), and HR Vendor Management. The role will work closely with HR, finance, legal, and business stakeholders to deliver an efficient employee experience while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

The incumbent will supervise a small HR operations team and drive process excellence through standardization, governance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Compliance

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely salary disbursement.
  • Validate payroll inputs, payouts, deductions, reimbursements, and statutory contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Gratuity, LWF, Bonus, and other applicable labor laws.
  • Support payroll reconciliations, audits, Form 16 issuance, and year-end activities.
  • Coordinate with Finance for payroll accounting and statutory reporting.
  • Resolve employee payroll queries within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure audit readiness.

Onboarding

  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires.
  • Ensure completion of pre-joining documentation and employee records.
  • Coordinate with IT, Admin, and Hiring Managers to ensure Day-1 readiness.
  • Facilitate induction and onboarding activities.
  • Track joining status and maintain onboarding dashboards and reports.
  • Support campus and lateral hiring onboarding requirements.

Background Verification (BGV)

  • Coordinate and track background verification for all new hires.
  • Work closely with empanelled vendors to ensure adherence to turnaround timelines.
  • Review BGV reports and escalate discrepancies for appropriate action.
  • Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company policies.
  • Support process improvements and governance related to BGV operations.

Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with HR operations vendors, including BGV agencies, staffing partners, and payroll service providers.
  • Monitor vendor performance against agreed service levels.
  • Support contract renewals, invoicing, and documentation requirements.
  • Resolve operational escalations and coordinate with internal stakeholders.

Team Supervision & Process Excellence

  • Guide and support HR operations team members in day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure adherence to established SOPs and process controls.
  • Maintain process documentation and operational trackers.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Support knowledge sharing and capability building within the team.

Benefits Administration

  • Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, gratuity, and wellness initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee enrollment, claims processing, and vendor interactions.
  • Provide operational support during compensation review and benefits renewal cycles.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate or equivalent qualification.
  • Certifications in payroll, labor laws, or HR operations will be an added advantage.
  • 5–7 years of experience in HR operations.
  • Hands-on experience in payroll processing, statutory compliance, HR Operations.
  • Exposure to onboarding, BGV, and vendor management processes.
  • Prior experience guiding or mentoring junior team members is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Indian payroll processes and statutory compliance.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and HR operations best practices.
  • Experience with HRMS/payroll platforms such as Darwinbox, Keka, GreytHR, SAP, or similar systems.
  • Strong Excel and HR MIS reporting skills.
  • Vendor coordination and stakeholder management capabilities.
