Company Description The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Bengaluru, India, implementing the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal Programme) initiative. Every school day, the foundation serves nutritious meals to 2.35 million children in government and government-aided schools across 16 States and 3 Union Territories, helping them attend school nourished and ready to learn. Over the past 25 years, Akshaya Patra has pursued the vision that no child in India should be deprived of education because of hunger, cumulatively serving more than 5 billion meals. Its work spans school meals, morning nutrition, Anganwadi feeding, school rejuvenation, mentorship, scholarships, alumni support, and disaster relief feeding, supporting children and communities through multiple stages of their journey. With a strong focus on innovation, scale and sustainability, the foundation leverages automated kitchens, technology-enabled supply chains, renewable energy and resource-efficient practices, in partnership with governments, corporates, institutions and individual donors.
Role Description The Assistant Manager – Fundraising Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and managing relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations and institutions to support Akshaya Patra's programs. This on-site role, based in Chennai, involves developing fundraising strategies, preparing proposals and presentations, coordinating donor meetings and events, and ensuring timely follow-up and stewardship. The role includes analyzing fundraising performance, maintaining accurate donor records, and collaborating with internal teams to align fundraising initiatives with program priorities and impact stories. The Assistant Manager will also contribute to campaigns, reports and communication materials that highlight the foundation's work and outcomes, while adhering to ethical fundraising practices and organizational policies. This is a full-time position.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret fundraising data, donor trends and campaign performance.
  • Candidates should possess Finance and Investments knowledge to engage effectively with donors interested in impact-driven giving and portfolio-based philanthropy.
  • Candidates should possess Investment Management and Equities understanding to converse with high-net-worth and institutional donors on structured giving, endowments and long-term funding models.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, business development or relationship management, preferably in the non-profit or social impact sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals, reports and presentations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and networking abilities, with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
  • Ability to work in an on-site, fast-paced environment in Chennai, with readiness to travel locally as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Social Work or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
