About the Role

This role is at the heart of Flipkart's next frontier — building intelligent planning systems that automate and simplify how we forecast, buy, replenish, and manage inventory at scale. As an Assistant Manager in the Planning Design team, you will be the bridge between deep supply chain domain expertise and product execution — translating complex planning challenges into structured, scalable product solutions for Flipkart and Flipkart Minutes.

You will own the end-to-end design of planning products — from ideation and problem framing all the way to detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) — working hand-in-hand with Product, Retail, BD, and Selection teams to bring these systems to life.

About the Team

The Planning Design team is a newly established, high-impact function responsible for designing and deploying planning products that make inventory and distribution processes smarter, faster, and more autonomous. We work at the intersection of supply chain strategy and product thinking.

Our mandate spans Flipkart as well as Flipkart Minutes, covering the full spectrum of planning — from demand sensing to vendor collaboration to value recovery.

You Are Responsible For

Own end-to-end design of planning products — from problem identification and ideation to detailed BRD creation and product deployment

Deep-dive into as-is planning processes (forecasting, buying, replenishment, vendor management) to diagnose pain points, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities

Translate business problems into structured, comprehensive product requirements with clearly defined workflows, edge cases, success metrics, and rollout plans

Work closely with Planning, Retail, BD, Selection, and Product teams to gather requirements, validate

solutions, and drive alignment across stakeholders

Lead pilots and POC exercises to validate design hypotheses before full-scale development

Develop detailed process maps, data flow diagrams, and business logic documentation to ensure clarity for product and engineering teams

Track product development progress, flag risks proactively, and ensure smooth deployment and adoption by planning teams

Continuously benchmark Flipkart's planning systems against global best practices and identify step-change improvement opportunities

Build long-term structural capabilities with a clear view on scalability, reliability, and financial viability

2–5 years of experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, or a related domain — ideally

within e-commerce, retail, or FMCG

Strong understanding of planning concepts: demand forecasting, replenishment logic, inventory

optimization, vendor collaboration, and order management

Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) or functional

specifications

Excellent analytical and structured problem-solving skills with ability to work through ambiguity

Experience working with or alongside Product/Tech teams in translating business needs into system requirements

Proficiency in Excel and SQL; familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plus

Strong stakeholder management skills — ability to work across Planning, Retail, BD, Selection, and

Product teams

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a knack for simplifying complex ideas

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, unstructured environment with a bias for action

Prior exposure to process redesign, design thinking, or product management is a strong advantage
