Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Review general ledger entries, journal vouchers, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial performance and explain variances against budget and prior periods.
- Prepare management reports and financial presentations for senior management.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
- Monitor customer collections and ageing reports to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Review supplier payments and ensure timely settlement.
- Resolve billing discrepancies with operations and customers.
Treasury & Cash Flow
- Monitor daily cash positions and forecast cash flow requirements.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Coordinate with banks on banking facilities, transfers, and payment arrangements.
- Ensure adequate working capital to support business operations.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets.
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and profitability improvement.
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and review GST returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and regulatory authorities.
- Support annual audit and statutory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Cost Control & Business Support
- Monitor operational costs including freight costs, warehouse expenses, transportation costs, and overheads.
- Analyze shipment profitability and gross margins.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support pricing analysis and business proposals when required.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Maintain effective internal controls and finance procedures.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in finance system implementation or enhancement projects.
- Support SAP system improvements and automation initiatives.
Team Management
- Supervise and guide Finance team.
- Review work performed by team members.
- Provide coaching and training to improve team competency.
- Assist in performance management and staff development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent.
- CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting and finance experience.
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, transportation, or supply chain industry is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and internal controls.
- Good understanding of freight forwarding operations, including ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and transportation billing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g. SAP)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight reporting deadlines.
