Job Description

We're hiring an Assistant Manager Finance!

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Finance Manager will support the finance function across accounting operations, taxation, compliance, reporting, and financial controls for the India freight forwarding operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Accounting

  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL).
  • Manage freight forwarding accounting activities including reconciliations, including Ocean/Air freight accruals, vendor freight audits, and Detention/Demurrage tracking.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Monitor accounting entries and reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

2. Audit and Reporting

  • Coordinate statutory audits and support timely closure of audit requirements.
  • Assist in strengthening financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Support internal audit activities and ensure timely resolution of audit observations.
  • Coordinate with internal auditors, statutory auditors, and tax authorities as required.

2. Commercial & Trade Compliance

  • Manage indirect tax compliance, specifically GST (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) reconciliations, E-Way bills, and Input Tax Credit (ITC) tracking.
  • Manage direct tax compliance, including TDS deduction/remission and corporate tax filings, maintenance of records etc.
  • Coordinate with relevant consultants to ensure all compliances are being followed.
  • Coordinate with Company Secretary for MCA related compliances.
  • Support preparation of compliance documentation and statutory record maintenance.

3. Financial Planning & MIS

  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, conducting variance analysis against actual performance.
  • Preparing monthly MIS reports and financial analysis for management and key stakeholders.
  • Assist in working capital monitoring and cash flow management initiatives.

4. Fixed Assets Management

  • Ensure proper accounting and maintenance of fixed assets in compliance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Coordinate annual physical verification of fixed assets and maintain accurate asset registers.

5. Auditing & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate with auditors and regulatory authorities to ensure timely completion of audits and statutory requirements.
  • Strengthen internal financial controls and operational processes to mitigate financial and commercial risks in freight transactions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with an active ICAI membership.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of post-qualification experience within the Freight Forwarding, Logistics, or Shipping industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian taxation, statutory compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
  • System Skills: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, Preferably Microsoft Dynamics (SAP would be additional advantage) and advanced MS Excel.
  • Soft Skills: Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-department teams.
