Role Overview
The Production Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing manufacturing activities related to pre-engineered steel building components such as primary members, secondary members, and roofing systems. The role focuses on ensuring production efficiency, quality compliance, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
Execute production plans based on project schedules and dispatch priorities
Coordinate with design, detailing, and PPC teams for drawings and material availability
Ensure optimal utilization of machines, manpower, and resources
2. Shop Floor Management
Supervise fabrication processes including cutting, welding, drilling, and assembly
Monitor daily production output vs targets and take corrective actions
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
3. Quality Assurance
Ensure production activities comply with quality standards and specifications
Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspections and audits
Minimize rework and rejection through process improvements
4. Process Improvement & Efficiency
Identify bottlenecks and implement productivity improvement initiatives
Drive lean manufacturing practices and cost optimization
Monitor KPIs such as cycle time, wastage, and efficiency
5. Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and plant policies
Conduct regular safety checks and toolbox talks
Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
6. Coordination & Reporting
Liaise with procurement for raw material availability
Coordinate with maintenance team to ensure machine uptime
Prepare daily/weekly production reports and MIS
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes (PEB exposure preferred)
Understanding of drawings, BOQs, and fabrication detailing
Hands-on experience with CNC machines, welding processes, and shop floor operations
Problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong leadership and team management ability
Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking tools
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
Diploma holders with relevant experience may also be considered

Experience in PEB companies
Exposure to large-scale steel structure manufacturing
