Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop seasonal collections for men's formal woven apparel, including shirts, trousers, blazers, suits, and jackets.
  • Research and analyze global fashion trends, fabric innovations, color forecasts, and market dynamics relevant to the formalwear segment.
  • Create mood boards, design concepts, sketches, and detailed technical specifications for new product development.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, product development, and buying teams to ensure designs align with business objectives and customer preferences.
  • Select appropriate fabrics, trims, embellishments, and construction techniques suitable for formal woven garments.
  • Develop and maintain seasonal color palettes, fabric stories, and design themes.
  • Work closely with pattern makers and sample development teams to ensure design intent is accurately translated into prototypes and final products.
  • Conduct fit sessions and provide feedback on garment construction, fit, styling, and finishing.
  • Monitor sample development timelines and ensure timely execution of collections.
  • Evaluate competitor products and market offerings to identify opportunities for product differentiation and innovation.
  • Ensure products meet quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements while maintaining design aesthetics.
  • Prepare design presentations and collection reviews for internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Support vendor interactions and factory visits for product development, fabric sourcing, and sample approvals when required.
  • Maintain design documentation, technical packs, and product specifications throughout the development cycle.

Qualifications & required Skills

  • B.Des from NIFT.
  • Strong understanding of men's formalwear aesthetics, garment construction, and woven fabric development.
  • Knowledge of woven fabrics, yarns, finishes, and garment manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and related design tools.
  • Strong trend forecasting, color sense, and fabric selection capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness of the menswear market.
