Job Description- Assistant Manager- Design Department

Location- Gurgaon, Haryana, India

Working Days- Monday- Saturday

Working Hours- 9:30am-6:30pm

Overview-

A highly experienced and motivated Assistant Manager in Design Department with a strong background in SolidWorks and sheet metal design is being sought. This role is crucial for leading the design and development of complex sheet metal components and assemblies, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of CAD software, especially SolidWorks, and proven expertise in creating detailed engineering documentation while adhering to industry standards.

Responsibilities-

  • Lead and oversee the design and development of sheet metal components and assemblies, from concept to production, utilizing SolidWorks.
  • Generate comprehensive 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) that comply with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure seamless design-to-execution transitions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers and production personnel, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in sheet metal engineering, incorporating relevant innovations into design practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures, and manufacturing process instructions.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sheet metal design and fabrication, including a strong portfolio of successfully completed projects.
  • CAD Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks, particularly in the sheet metal module, including advanced features like bending, laser cutting, and weldments.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes (bending, welding, laser cutting, etc.), material properties, and their impact on design.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience with FEA and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) for design validation and optimization.
  • Problem-solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex engineering problems, devise innovative solutions, and troubleshoot design-related issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment, adapting to changing priorities and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's/ Bachaelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading design projects and product launches from concept to production.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM).
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles for cost-effective production
