Job Description: Linux L2 Engineer (RHEL & Kubernetes)
Role Overview
The Linux L2 Engineer will be responsible for advanced troubleshooting, system administration, and
performance optimization of RHEL-based environments, with exposure to Kubernetes clusters. This
role bridges operational support and engineering, ensuring stability, scalability, and security of
production systems.

role bridges operational support and engineering, ensuring stability, scalability, and security of
production systems.
Core Responsibilities
- RHEL server management: Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across physical and virtual environments.
- Troubleshooting escalations: Handle L2 tickets related to OS, networking, and application-level issues.
- System monitoring: Use tools like Prometheus, Grafana or any NMS tools for proactive monitoring and alert handling.
- Patch and kernel updates: Apply patches, perform kernel upgrades, and validate system stability post-update.
- Networking support: Diagnose issues with DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Storage management: Manage LVM, RAID, NFS, iSCSI, and troubleshoot disk performance issues.
- Kubernetes basics: Assist in managing pods, deployments, services, and troubleshoot container runtime issues.
- Scripting and automation: Write Bash/Python scripts for repetitive tasks, log parsing, and system automation.
- Documentation: Maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and configuration records.
- Strong hands-on experience with RHEL 8/9/10 & other flavors of Linux administration.
- Familiarity with systemd, SELinux, and package management (yum/dnf).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes fundamentals (kubectl commands, YAML manifests, pod lifecycle).
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python preferred).
- Experience with monitoring tools (zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSH).
- Exposure to storage technologies (LVM, RAID, NFS).
- Experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Knowledge of container runtimes (Docker).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS EC2).
- 3-6 years of strong relevant experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and handle 24x7 production support.
- Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Networking, Security).
