Key Responsibilities:
Project Support & Management:
- Assist in the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects including infrastructure, roadwork, drainage, and building construction.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring project milestones are achieved on time.
- Monitor project progress and assist in addressing any issues or delays that may arise during the construction or design phases.
- Ensure that all civil works are carried out in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Design & Technical Support:
- Assist in preparing civil engineering designs, drawings, and calculations for various projects (roads, drainage, foundations, utilities).
- Review and approve civil engineering designs, ensuring they align with project objectives and quality standards.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate civil designs seamlessly into the overall project plan.
- Support senior engineers in conducting technical analyses, such as structural assessments or site evaluations.
Team Coordination & Mentorship:
- Coordinate with junior engineers and technicians to ensure that the civil engineering work is completed according to the design and schedule.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team, offering mentorship and helping to resolve any engineering or design challenges.
- Review the work of junior staff, ensuring that drawings and designs meet the required technical standards and are completed accurately.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct site inspections to verify that construction activities comply with design specifications and safety standards.
- Assist in the preparation of quality assurance and quality control plans for civil engineering projects.
- Participate in the preparation of safety reports and ensure that safety protocols are followed on-site.
Client Interaction & Reporting:
- Assist in liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Prepare and present regular project updates, reports, and presentations to clients and senior management.
- Attend client meetings to discuss project progress, resolve issues, and address any concerns.
Cost Management & Resource Allocation:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for civil engineering projects, ensuring projects remain within budget.
- Monitor expenditures and resource utilization, identifying cost-saving opportunities where possible.
- Ensure that materials, equipment, and resources are allocated effectively to meet project requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in civil engineering.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in civil engineering and project management.
- Contribute ideas for improving project efficiency, quality, and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong background in project management, design, and execution.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage, utilities, and/or building construction.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of civil engineering principles, construction processes, and project design methodologies.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to lead and coordinate a team while also collaborating effectively with other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot design issues or construction challenges quickly and effectively.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure design accuracy and compliance with standards.
