Summary:
The Manager Business Development (API) will be responsible for driving sales growth, identifying new business opportunities, and managing relationships with pharmaceutical companies, formulators, and traders in the Indian domestic market. The role focuses on promoting Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), intermediates, and key raw materials to ensure revenue growth and market penetration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development & Sales:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for APIs and intermediates in the Indian domestic market.
- Generate leads, follow up with potential clients, and convert opportunities into sales.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers including formulation companies, contract manufacturers, and distributors.
- Handle customer inquiries, quotations, negotiations, and order closures.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.
- Market Intelligence:
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing, and customer requirements.
- Provide insights into management for developing competitive pricing strategies and new product introductions.
- Coordination & Support:
- Coordinate with internal teams (Regulatory, QA/QC, Production, Logistics, and Accounts) to ensure timely execution of customer orders.
- Maintain updated customer databases and sales records. Support in preparing marketing materials, product lists, and presentations.
- Regulatory & Documentation Support:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and documentation requirements for domestic sales.
- Facilitate technical document exchange such as DMFs, COAs, and specifications with clients.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of API and pharmaceutical raw materials.
- Good communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools. Self-motivated, result-oriented, and proactive approach.
- Qualification: B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences) or B.Pharm / M.Pharm coupled with an MBA in Marketing preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales of APIs or intermediates in the Indian pharma market.
