Assistant Manager-AO&CS in the role of GSE Stores, Delhi Airport

Role Overview

The Assistant Manager – Stores supports the efficient functioning of stores and warehouse operations by ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material availability, and adherence to defined processes and safety standards. The role focuses on operational execution, coordination with internal stakeholders, and supervision of day‑to‑day activities to enable uninterrupted operations and compliance with internal controls and audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stores & Warehouse Operations
  • Manage daily stores activities including receipt, inspection, storage, issue, and dispatch of materials.
  • Ensure proper material identification, labeling, and binning as per defined standards.
  • Monitor housekeeping, layout discipline, and space utilization within the warehouse.
  • Inventory Management & Control
  • Maintain accuracy between physical stock and system inventory.
  • Support periodic physical stock verification and cycle counts as per approved schedules.
  • Identify slow‑moving, non‑moving, excess, or obsolete inventory and report findings to the Manager for corrective action.
  • Assist in maintaining minimum and maximum stock levels to avoid shortages or over‑stocking.
  • System & Process Compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of GRNs, issues, returns, and transfers in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, GEMS).
  • Adhere to established SOPs for all stores processes and highlight deviations, if any.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing records, reports, and explanations as required.
  • Team Supervision
  • Supervise officers, executives, and warehouse staff on shift activities.
  • Allocate daily tasks, ensure productivity, and monitor compliance with safety and discipline.
  • Support on‑the‑job training and reinforce best practices in stores operations.
  • Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
  • Ensure compliance with safety norms, material handling procedures, and 5S practices.
  • Monitor safe handling and storage of hazardous, high‑value, and sensitive materials.
  • Report safety incidents and participate in corrective and preventive actions.
  • Reporting & Analytics
  • Prepare routine MIS reports on inventory status, stock variance, aging, and consumption trends.
  • Track basic inventory KPIs such as stock accuracy and aging under guidance from the Manager.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for audit and review purposes.

Key Skills & Competencies

Functional / Technical Skills

  • Practical knowledge of stores and warehouse operations
  • Inventory control and material handling practices
  • Basic understanding of audit and internal control requirements
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/GEMS preferred)

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics or Supply chain.
  • Diploma or Postgraduate qualification in Materials Management or Supply Chain

Experience Requirements

  • 6+ years of total experience in stores / warehouse / inventory management from automobile industry
  • At least 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Exposure to high SKU environments or large warehouses is an added advantage
