The Assistant Consultant Land Services, will support the delivery of land referencing (identifying all land interestsowners, occupiers, and rightsthat may be affected by a proposed project or development) and land services activities for UK infrastructure projects, working from India, as part of a multidisciplinary project team. The role is suited to juniormid level professionals with a background in geography, GIS, land/property research, infrastructure projects, or land acquisition support.

The position involves desktop-based land ownership research, preparation and maintenance of land records, support to landowner consultation and land access activities, and close coordination with senior land consultants, planners, and relevant project teams. Individuals with experience managing large datasets or data management systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to conduct accurate analysis are encouraged to apply. Experience on a large-scale government sector project specially in land acquisition, data collection or mapping, stakeholder management, and presenting to clients or stakeholders is valuable.

Responsibilities

Land & Property Research

  • Undertake desktop land ownership research using sources such as revenue records, cadastral maps, municipal records, land registry extracts, and other publicly available data sources.
  • Identify land parcels, landowners, occupiers, and land interests including ownership, tenancy, and rights in land (easements / wayleaves).
  • Review GIS data to understand the land and project impacts.

GIS & Land Data Management

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining documents like land ownership tables, ownership registers, and consultation databases
  • Update and manage land data using Excel, GIS/mapping tools (QGIS/ArcGIS), and internal systems, ensuring accuracy, version control, and audit trails.
  • Support data validation and quality assurance checks under the guidance of senior team members.

Landowner, Stakeholder and Project Support

  • Support landowner and stakeholder liaison activities, including issuing questionnaires, notices, and follow-up communications
  • Track responses and maintain clear records of landowner engagement.
  • Assist seniors with meeting preparation, coordination, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain trackers for land access status, constraints, and permissions.

Qualifications


Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban & Regional Planning, Geoinformatics, GIS, Surveying, Urban Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Post Graduate qualification in Geography / Remote sensing / Planning or relevant subject with more than 2 years technical experience

Mandatory Skills & Experience


  • More than 2 years of experience in land acquisition support, land and property research, spatial and non-spatial data analysis.
  • Practical understanding of land ownership concepts and land records and plans.
  • Experience conducting desktop research using public or government data sources.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and data handling, with high attention to detail.
  • Basic exposure to GIS or mapping tools (QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and stakeholder interaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

Knowledge Preferred (Not Mandatory)


  • Awareness of UK land referencing practices.
  • Basic knowledge of UK statutory land processes such as Development Consent Orders (DCO), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO), Transport and Works Act Orders (TWAO).
  • Experience supporting UK or international infrastructure projects from an offshore delivery model.
