Assistant Manager – Cafeteria Operations
Position Overview
The Assistant Manager for Cafeteria Operations is responsible for supporting the management and daily operations of cafeteria facilities across multiple manufacturing premises within the electrical manufacturing organization. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality food services, maintains health and safety standards, manages staff across locations, and supports operational efficiency to meet the nutritional needs of factory employees while adhering to budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Assist in overseeing day-to-day cafeteria operations across multiple factory premises, ensuring consistent service delivery and food quality standards. Coordinate meal planning, preparation schedules, and service times to align with factory shift patterns and production schedules. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement of food supplies, equipment, and consumables across all locations. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for food preparation, service, and facility maintenance.
Staff Supervision and Development
Supervise cafeteria staff including cooks, food service workers, and cleaning personnel across multiple sites. Conduct staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage during all shifts and managing overtime effectively. Provide training on food safety, hygiene practices, customer service, and operational procedures. Monitor staff performance, conduct regular evaluations, and address performance issues promptly.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and local health department requirements. Conduct regular inspections of food preparation areas, storage facilities, and dining spaces. Maintain accurate records of food safety checks, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules. Implement corrective actions for any identified compliance gaps and coordinate with regulatory inspections.
Financial Management
Assist in budget planning and cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency. Monitor food costs, waste reduction, and portion control across all premises. Process invoices, maintain financial records, and prepare regular cost analysis reports. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising food quality or service standards.
Quality Assurance and Customer Service
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and nutritional value. Gather and respond to employee feedback regarding menu options, service quality, and facility conditions. Address complaints and resolve service issues promptly and professionally. Develop initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and cafeteria utilization.
Multi-Site Coordination
Travel between factory premises to ensure consistent standards and operational alignment. Coordinate logistics for centralized procurement, menu planning, and resource allocation. Facilitate communication and best practice sharing between cafeteria teams at different locations. Support the opening or expansion of cafeteria facilities at new or existing premises.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field.
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food service operations, institutional catering, or hospitality management. At least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant management role. Experience managing multi-site operations preferred. Background in industrial or manufacturing environment cafeteria operations is advantageous.
Skills And Competencies
Strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and hygiene standards. Proficiency in inventory management, cost control, and budgeting. Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple locations. Strong leadership and people management capabilities. Good communication and interpersonal skills for diverse workforce interaction. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and cafeteria management software. Problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a fast-paced cafeteria environment within industrial manufacturing premises. Work schedule includes early morning, evening, or weekend shifts as needed to support factory operations. Regular travel between multiple factory locations required.
