Job Summary
The Assistant Engineer will support the Project Manager and engineering team in the planning, coordination, execution, and completion of engineering and building-services projects. The role involves site coordination, preparation of technical documentation, monitoring of work progress, quality control, and coordination with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Site Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager in managing day-to-day project activities.
- Coordinate site works with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other trades.
- Monitor work progress against project schedules and planned milestones.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify site issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
2. Engineering & Technical Support
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Assist in preparing shop drawings, as-built drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.
- Assist with calculations, measurements, material take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for site-related engineering issues.
- Ensure installation works comply with relevant codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
3. Testing & Commissioning
- Assist in planning and coordinating testing and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and maintain testing and commissioning records.
- Assist with equipment testing, inspection, and performance verification.
- Coordinate rectification of defects identified during testing and commissioning.
4. Quality & Safety
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with the company's Quality Management System and project requirements.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining inspection and quality-control documentation.
- Ensure site activities comply with workplace safety requirements and approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Report unsafe conditions, defects, and non-conformities to the Project Manager.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly project progress reports.
- Maintain project records, drawings, inspection forms, test reports, and other technical documentation.
- Assist in preparing material submissions, inspection requests, and work completion documentation.
- Maintain proper records of project variations, site instructions, and rectification works.
6. Procurement & Material Coordination
- Assist in preparing material requisitions and purchase requests.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding material availability, delivery schedules, and technical specifications.
- Check delivered materials against approved specifications and quantities.
- Monitor material usage and minimize wastage.
7. Client & Consultant Coordination
- Attend site meetings and coordination meetings when required.
- Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in responding to technical queries and requests for information.
- Follow up on outstanding comments, inspections, and approvals.

Working Conditions
