WSP is seeking a Consultant, Cultural Heritage and Archaeology'to support our UK Cultural Heritage

& Archaeology (CH&A) Team. The appointment is key to development of our growing CH&A Team in

Noida, Mumbai or Bengaluru that supports the UK Team. The role will require a combination of

technical expertise and knowledge of archaeology and heritage.

The WSP UK Cultural Heritage and Archaeology team is the largest heritage consultancy in UK. It works

across the UK and occasionally overseas and covers all aspects of the historic environment

(archaeology, built heritage, setting and design) throughout the full lifecycle of projects. We provide

our clients with expert advice on an ever-increasing portfolio of heritage related enquiries that address

the management of change in our historic environment. We work on high profile and large -scale

infrastructure projects in the UK and abroad as part of a multi-disciplinary team and aim to deliver

high quality work while contributing to innovative approaches and challenges within the heritage

sector.

The successful applicant will be a part of data handling professionals who will be part of WSP iCRC UK

Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Team, delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding

the continued success of the cultural heritage business by assisting us in our client focused delivery of

projects.

The work will be focussed on providing data handling support, including GIS deliverables as well as

manipulation and interpretation of cultural heritage data from third parties. Deliverables will be used

in reports and assessments provided to our clients for a range of different commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

Handling, sorting and preparation of data sets

  • Preparation of cultural heritage cartography (e.g. plans to show heritage assets)
  • Providing research into archaeological and historic environment baseline from online resources
  • Providing support in the production of cultural heritage reports (e.g. Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessments, Heritage Statements)
  • Managing, interpreting and manipulating large data sets
  • Purchase and maintain datasets including Ordnance Survey Mapping and non-publicly available data, adhering to 3rd party licensing agreements
  • Actively promoting knowledge sharing with an inclusive nature, developing working relations with all aspects of WSP, gaining internal clients along the way
  • Generation of figures for inclusion in publications and public consultations
  • Detailed information assisting deliver legal requirements of licensing
  • Material supporting marketing and bidding.

Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory skills

  • Have experience of handling and managing data sets for analysis
  • Be very familiar of GIS software and techniques, for example use of ArcGIS, QGIS.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word.
  • Are a good team worker with excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and spoken English. Much of your work will be writing technical reports in English.
  • Are confident and highly motivated, with good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Have a basic general understanding of the archaeology of Britain from the prehistoric to modern periods, and a willingness to develop this understanding.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of Cultural Heritage Consultancy or working within the field of archaeology and/or built heritage conservation
  • Database management
  • Have experience of CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator and AutoCAD
  • Google maps, Google Earth Professional
  • Photoshop or similar
  • Microsoft Applications other than Word.

Qualifications


  • Have an appropriate academic qualification in archaeology or heritage, data handling or related discipline
