Role Summary

We are seeking a Community Psychologist with a passion for fieldwork, gender equity, and adolescent mental health. This role involves active engagement with local communities to deliver psychosocial support, emotional education, and capacity-building for girls and women across multiple community platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Field-Based Psychological Support

  • Provide mental health counselling and emotional support to adolescent girls, especially in school settings and community groups.
  • Facilitate group sessions and peer support circles addressing issues like body image, exam stress, relationships, gender roles, menstrual health, trauma, and anxiety.
  • Conduct home visits and community engagement sessions as needed.

Women Empowerment Programs

  • Support the Women's Evening School through psychoeducation, life skills sessions, and personal development modules.
  • Engage with artisan training groups to foster self-esteem, group cohesion, and emotional wellbeing of rural women.

School & Adolescent Mental Health

  • Partner with schools to run age-appropriate emotional wellbeing sessions for teenagers (11–18 years).
  • Address relevant themes like motivation, bullying, safe relationships, stress management, and aspirations.

Outreach & Capacity Building

  • Train local teachers, Anganwadi workers, and peer educators in basic mental health support and identification of concerns.
  • Participate in community awareness drives on topics such as gender-based violence, substance abuse, and resilience building.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Community Psychology, or Applied Psychology.
  • Ability to speak Hindi fluently; Awadhi dialect preferred.
  • Willingness to work in rural settings, travel locally, and adapt to community dynamics.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and group engagement skills.
  • Language- Hindi & English (good writing skills)

Desirable

  • Experience in trauma-informed or gender-based counselling.
  • Familiarity with the socio-cultural context of rural Uttar Pradesh.
  • Training in creative arts, narrative therapy, or adolescent health education.
