Role Description

This full-time on-site role, located in Bengaluru, is for an Assistant Chief Engineer. The Assistant Chief Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all machinery, equipment, and systems within the property. Key activities include supervising technical staff, ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols, overseeing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing energy efficiency. The role also involves close coordination with the management team to improve operational efficiency and maintain guest satisfaction through reliable and safe facility operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Operations
  • Oversee daily engineering operations including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, and building maintenance.
  • Monitor and maintain generators, boilers, chillers, fire systems, STP, WTP, elevators, and all critical hotel equipment.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all assets.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure statutory compliance for fire safety, electrical systems, pollution control, lift licenses, boiler certification, etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and safety checks.
  • Lead hotel safety committee, handle emergency response, and coordinate with local authorities as required.
Energy & Cost Control
  • Monitor and control energy consumption, fuel usage, and utility costs.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices.
  • Review budgets, AMCs, spare parts inventory, and cost control measures.
Team Management
  • Lead and supervise engineering team, technicians, and outsourced maintenance staff.
  • Ensure training, skill development, duty rosters, and performance management.
  • Coordinate with other departments for engineering support and guest service needs.
Projects & Renovation
  • Handle capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, refurbishments, installation, and upgrades.
  • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Prepare project reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, AMCs, utility readings, and statutory documentation.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly engineering reports to management.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong technical knowledge of hotel engineering systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and manage emergencies.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, BMS systems, and engineering software.
