Role Description The Assistant Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at an Open Door Hotels property in Candolim. The role involves supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating dishes to brand standards. The Assistant Chef helps plan menus, ensures consistency in taste and presentation, and follows recipes and portion guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining kitchen hygiene, coordinating with kitchen staff, monitoring inventory and food storage, and assisting with ordering supplies. The role also includes working closely with the service team to deliver timely meals, adhering to food safety regulations, and contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
  • Strong skills in basic and advanced cooking techniques, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations, including inventory handling, storage practices, and equipment use.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and local health regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage time effectively, and follow set procedures.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with a professional and guest-focused attitude.
  • Prior experience as a Commis Chef, Assistant Chef, or similar role in hotels or restaurants preferred.
  • Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized institute is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by hotel operations.
