Position Summary
MIT School of Fine Arts & Applied Arts invites applications from qualified, passionate, and industry-experienced academicians for the role of Assistant / Associate Professor in Applied Arts. The successful candidate will guide undergraduate and postgraduate students in branding strategies, graphic design, visual communication, and creative thinking while contributing to curriculum development, research, and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Curriculum Execution: Deliver high-quality lectures, practical studio sessions, and workshops in Branding, Communication Design, Graphic Design, Advertising, Typography, and Visual Identity.
- Mentorship & Projects: Guide student design projects, thesis portfolios, internships, and industry-oriented creative briefs.
- Research & Development: Engage in active creative research, publish papers in indexed journals, participate in design exhibitions, and pursue consultancy or industry-collaborative projects.
- Departmental Administration: Assist in curriculum revisions, exam evaluations, organizing design symposiums, workshops, industry visits, and accreditation work (NAAC/UGC standards).
- Industry Engagement: Build network opportunities with creative agencies, branding consultancies, and design studios to foster internships and campus placements.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
1. Educational Qualification:
- Minimum Requirement: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Applied Arts OR Master of Design (M.Des) with specialization in Branding / Communication Design from a recognized university or institute of repute.
- Preferred Qualification:Ph.D. in Fine Arts / Applied Arts / Design / Visual Communication (Candidates with a Ph.D. or currently pursuing Ph.D. will be given strong preference).
2. Work Experience:
- Assistant Professor: Minimum 2 to 5 years of teaching and/or professional industry experience in branding, advertising agencies, or communication design studios.
- Associate Professor: Minimum 8 to 10 years of teaching/industry experience, with a proven track record of research publications, student mentorship, and academic leadership.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in brand strategy, visual identity design, packaging design, advertising campaigns, and digital communication design.
- Mastery of industry-standard design tools and software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, etc.).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in creative design, branding solutions, or academic accomplishments.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in English.
- Strong understanding of contemporary design trends, cross-media storytelling, and visual aesthetics.
