Purpose and Scope

This role is responsible for managing and growing assigned utilities accounts, securing new business opportunities, and supporting the development of customer-centric utilities solutions. The incumbent will work closely with internal technical, operations and commercial teams to understand customer requirements, assess solution feasibility, develop techno-commercial proposals, negotiate commercial terms and manage contractual arrangements. The role requires a hands-on individual who can balance customer relationship management, commercial acumen and technical understanding to deliver service excellence and support Sembcorp's growth in utilities and sustainable solutions.

Key Roles And Responsibilities

  • Own and manage assigned key accounts, including developing account plans, understanding customers operational and technical requirements, identifying growth opportunities and strengthening long-term partnerships with Sembcorp.
  • Manage existing customer contracts and service arrangements, including contract administration, dispute resolution, price reviews, commercial performance monitoring and billing verification.
  • Lead customer engagement and account review sessions, gather feedback, address service-related matters and coordinate follow-up actions with internal stakeholders to enhance customer experience.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Sembcorp's utilities assets, infrastructure capabilities, product offerings and value proposition to support account retention, cross-selling and customer-led solutioning.
  • Conduct market assessment of identified utilities business opportunities, including customer segments, demand drivers, competitive landscape and potential commercial models, and maintain a robust pipeline of business development activities.
  • Coordinate with technical, operations and engineering teams on utilities and water-related requirements, including demand profiling, supply reliability, capacity availability, water treatment or reuse considerations, metering, interconnection requirements, technical feasibility and operational constraints, to support accurate solution design and proposal development.
  • Develop techno-commercial proposals for utilities solutions, including translating customer needs and technical inputs into workable commercial offerings, performing financial evaluation, supporting pricing formulation and negotiating commercial terms with customers.
  • Build and maintain consultative relationships with prospective customers, developers and industry stakeholders, and serve as the focal point between customers and internal teams throughout the business development process.
  • Perform commercial viability studies for new investments, utilities infrastructure projects and contract renewals, and prepare business cases or investment papers for approval.
  • Prepare, propose and negotiate commercial contracts and customised pricing proposals for utilities customers, including bundled solutions across utilities, gas, electricity, solar, water and related services.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle for new utilities opportunities in close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as asset management, operations, engineering, legal, risk and finance, to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible, optimised and commercially viable.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Preferably 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in utilities, energy, water, industrial services, infrastructure, commercial sales, business development or account management.
