We are looking for a skilled AS400 Synon Developer with 4 to 5 years of experience to design, develop, and maintain business applications using the Synon (CA 2E) tool on the IBM AS400 (IBM i) platform. The candidate will work closely with business analysts and technical teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions that meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy applications using Synon (CA 2E) on the AS400 platform.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and Synon models.
- Maintain and enhance existing AS400 Synon applications to improve performance and add new features.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
- Debug and troubleshoot application issues in development, testing, and production environments.
- Collaborate with functional teams, DBAs, and other developers for smooth integration and delivery.
- Participate in system design discussions and provide input on improvements and optimizations.
- Prepare technical documentation related to design, code, and testing.
- Support data migration and integration tasks involving AS400 systems.
- Provide production support and timely resolution of issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in AS400 Synon (CA 2E) development.
- Strong understanding of IBM i (AS400) environment and RPG programming.
- Experience with DB2 database on AS400 and writing SQL queries.
- Knowledge of application development lifecycle and version control.
- Familiarity with batch processing and report generation on AS400.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders and technical teams.
Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience with RPGLE programming.
- Exposure to modernization initiatives involving AS400 applications.
- Knowledge of integration with other platforms using APIs or messaging queues.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
