Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support AS400/iSeries system operations, including job queues, output queues, system messages, and batch jobs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, system, and user access issues related to AS400.
  • Provide L1/L2 technical support for AS400-based applications and interfaces.
  • Perform regular system health checks, backups, and job monitoring tasks.
  • Coordinate with application developers and database administrators for issue resolution and enhancement requests.
  • Support nightly job processing and ensure completion of all scheduled batch jobs.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and user manuals.
  • Follow ITIL-based practices for incident, change, and problem management.
  • Provide support during upgrades, patches, and disaster recovery testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 25+ years of hands-on experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems.
  • Experience with CL (Control Language), RPG (Report Program Generator), and DB2/400.
  • Familiarity with tools like WRKJOB, WRKSPLF, WRKACTJOB, and SAVLIB.
  • Knowledge of job scheduling tools (e.g., Robot Scheduler, Control-M, or Native job scheduler).
  • Experience working with terminal emulators like IBM i Access Client or Mocha TN5250.
