We are looking for a highly experienced AS400 Functional Lead to manage and lead the functional delivery of AS400/iSeries projects and support activities. The ideal candidate will have deep domain knowledge, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience managing complex legacy systems, ensuring smooth business operations and driving modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the functional analysis, design, and delivery of AS400/iSeries solutions aligned with business needs.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into system specifications.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle including requirement gathering, design workshops, testing, deployment, and support.
- Manage and mentor a team of functional analysts and coordinate with development and QA teams.
- Drive business process improvements and identify opportunities for system enhancements and modernization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies within AS400 applications.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and DBA teams for performance tuning, backup, and recovery planning.
- Support change management, release planning, and issue resolution activities.
- Conduct training sessions and create detailed documentation for users and support teams.
- Participate in strategic planning for legacy system transformation and integration with modern platforms.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 1020 years of functional experience with IBM AS400/iSeries systems, preferably in banking, insurance, or manufacturing domains.
- Strong knowledge of core AS400 business applications, processes, and workflows.
- Experience with RPG/CL programs and DB2 database concepts is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience in requirements analysis, functional design, and testing coordination.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Exposure to modernization tools and strategies (e.g., APIs, web services, cloud migration).
- Knowledge of integration techniques between AS400 and modern platforms.
- Experience with core banking or insurance software suites running on AS400.
- Understanding of DevOps practices related to legacy systems.
