Role Overview
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and business development across North India for the company's fragrance portfolio. The incumbent will develop and manage relationships with manufacturers in the Personal Care, Home Care, and Fine Fragrance segments, while identifying new business opportunities and ensuring customer satisfaction.
The role requires a commercially driven professional with strong market knowledge, customer relationship management skills, technical understanding of fragrance applications, and the ability to lead and develop a sales team.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales Growth
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets across North India.
- Identify and acquire new customers in the Personal Care, Home Care, Fine Fragrances, and related FMCG manufacturing sectors.
- Expand business with existing customers through product introductions, value-added solutions, and account development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, procurement teams, R&D personnel, and business owners.
Market Development
- Identify emerging market opportunities, industry trends, and growth segments.
- Gather and report market intelligence, competitor activities, pricing trends, and customer requirements to management.
- Drive market penetration initiatives and increase the company's presence in strategic customer accounts.
Customer Management
- Provide technical guidance and support to customers in coordination with the technical and product development teams.
- Ensure prompt resolution of customer concerns and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate product trials, evaluations, and commercial discussions with customers.
Sales Operations & Commercial Management
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and business plans for the assigned territory.
- Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Manage receivables and ensure timely collection from customers.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, pricing guidelines, and commercial processes.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop the sales team to achieve business objectives.
- Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide coaching to team members.
- Foster a performance-driven and customer-centric work culture.
Reporting & Compliance
- Submit regular sales reports, customer visit reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports.
- Monitor competitors, market conditions, and product developments.
- Ensure effective communication between customers and internal stakeholders.

- Knowledge of Hindi and English is mandatory; knowledge of additional regional languages will be an advantage.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline.
- MBA / PGDM in Marketing or related field preferred.
Experience- 8–10 years of relevant sales and business development experience.
- Experience in selling fragrances, specialty ingredients, flavours & fragrances, or related products is preferred.

- Fine Fragrance
- FMCG manufacturing segments
- Prior experience in the Fragrance Industry will be a significant advantage.
Travel Requirement
- Extensive travel across North India and other locations in India as required.
- Ability to undertake frequent customer visits, business development meetings, and market development activities.
