Job Description

Department: Sales

Experience: 5+ Years

Industry: FMCG / Beverages / Food & Beverage

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Delhi NCR

Reporting To: Founder

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious, hands-on and growth-oriented Area Sales Manager to lead the market launch and expansion of our upcoming FMCG beverage brand.

This is an early-stage growth role where you will be responsible for building the market from the ground up—developing distributors, appointing retailers, driving product availability, managing sales targets and creating strong market visibility.

The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in FMCG/F&B sales, preferably with experience in beverages, packaged foods, or emerging brands, and should have a strong understanding of distributor and retail networks.

We are looking for someone with an initial growth mindset—a person who is comfortable working in a startup environment, taking ownership, solving problems independently and building a business rather than simply managing an existing territory.

Key Responsibilities1. Market Launch & Expansion
  • Lead the launch of the beverage brand across the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute the area-wise sales and distribution strategy.
  • Identify high-potential cities, markets, territories and retail clusters.
  • Build the market from the ground up with a strong focus on numeric distribution and product availability.
  • Develop a structured market-entry plan for new territories.
2. Distributor & Channel Development
  • Identify, appoint and onboard suitable distributors/super-stockists.
  • Build strong relationships with distributors and channel partners.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, margins, targets and schemes within company guidelines.
  • Ensure distributor stock availability and healthy inventory levels.
  • Monitor distributor performance and improve productivity.
  • Develop an effective distributor network capable of supporting rapid brand expansion.
3. Retail & General Trade Sales
  • Drive product placement across General Trade, Modern Trade, supermarkets, convenience stores, cafés, restaurants and other relevant channels.
  • Identify and onboard key retailers and high-volume outlets.
  • Increase outlet coverage and distribution depth.
  • Ensure proper product visibility, shelf placement and merchandising.
  • Drive primary as well as secondary sales.
  • Regularly track outlet-wise sales and productivity.
4. Sales Target & Revenue Growth
  • Own monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
  • Develop territory-wise sales plans and execute them aggressively.
  • Monitor sales performance against targets and take corrective action.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth rather than only one-time billing.
  • Track KPIs including:
  • Primary Sales
  • Secondary Sales
  • Numeric Distribution
  • Weighted Distribution
  • Active Outlets
  • New Outlet Addition
  • Distributor Productivity
  • Sales per Outlet
  • Repeat Orders
  • Stock Rotation
5. Market Intelligence
  • Conduct regular market visits and gather competitor intelligence.
  • Track competitor pricing, schemes, products, launches and market activities.
  • Identify emerging consumer and channel trends.
  • Provide actionable feedback to management regarding pricing, packaging, flavours, promotions and market opportunities.
6. Team & Field Execution
  • Build and manage sales representatives/promoters as the business scales.
  • Plan beat routes and daily market coverage.
  • Conduct regular joint market visits with the sales team.
  • Train the team on product knowledge, sales pitch and execution standards.
  • Ensure disciplined reporting and field activity.
7. Trade Marketing & Brand Visibility
  • Execute approved trade promotions, retailer schemes and distributor schemes.
  • Ensure effective in-store visibility and merchandising.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team for activations, sampling and local market campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities for local events, sampling drives and retailer activations.
  • Ensure the brand gets strong visibility during the launch phase.
What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant FMCG/F&B sales experience.
  • Prior experience in beverages, packaged foods, consumer products or similar categories preferred.
  • Strong understanding of FMCG distribution and General Trade.
  • Existing distributor/retailer relationships will be a strong advantage.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • Excellent market knowledge and field execution ability.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
Startup Mindset – Most Important

We are looking for someone who thinks like a business builder, not just a territory manager.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Have a strong hunter mentality for acquiring new distributors and outlets.
  • Be willing to spend significant time in the market.
