Job Description

Role Overview

The Area Retail / Sales Manager (ARSM) is responsible for leading and overseeing the overall operations, sales performance, and customer service standards of multiple showrooms within an assigned region. The role ensures that each showroom operates efficiently, complies with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and consistently delivers an exceptional customer experience.

The ARSM serves as a critical link between showrooms and Head Office, coordinating with key departments including Product, Marketing, HR, Administration, Finance, and Business Development to drive operational excellence and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Showroom Operations Management

  • Oversee end-to-end operations of all showrooms within the assigned region.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of all showroom departments, including Administration, Sales, and Cash, in line with established SOPs.
  • Maintain zero operational, compliance, or audit deviations by ensuring timely closure of audit observations.
  • Conduct scheduled and surprise visits to assess showroom performance, compliance, hygiene, security, and infrastructure requirements.

2. Sales Performance & Customer Experience

  • Review daily and weekly sales performance and define actionable targets in coordination with Showroom Managers.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to improve sales effectiveness, product knowledge, and service quality.
  • Address escalated customer complaints and ensure prompt resolution to protect and enhance brand reputation.
  • Approve critical discounts and special cases in line with company policies.

3. Product & Inventory Coordination

  • Liaise with the Product Team at Head Office to ensure availability of high-demand and fast-moving inventory across showrooms.
  • Monitor product movement and ensure optimal stock levels, particularly during festive seasons and peak sales periods.
  • Ensure adherence to visual merchandising standards, product displays, and daily operational checklists.

4. Billing & System Oversight

  • Monitor billing activities across showrooms and resolve system- or process-related issues in coordination with IT and Finance teams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to billing procedures and minimise billing errors or discrepancies.

5. Marketing & Branding Activities

  • Coordinate with the Marketing Team for the execution of ATL and BTL campaigns across the region.
  • Be present on-ground during major promotional events and ensure adequate staff deployment.
  • Ensure effective execution of local marketing initiatives such as leafleting, festive promotions, and regional campaigns.

6. People Management & HR Coordination

  • Participate in recruitment and interviews for showroom-level positions.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management, and retention through regular one-on-one interactions.
  • Coach and mentor Showroom Managers, Admin staff, and Sales teams to build leadership capability.
  • Monitor employee attendance, grooming, discipline, and overall conduct.

7. Compliance, Legal & Local Liaison

  • Coordinate with local government bodies, municipal authorities, police, and other agencies for showroom-related operational matters.
  • Ensure all statutory licenses, legal documents, and safety compliances are valid and up to date.

8. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports covering sales performance, manpower, inventory, and operational issues.
  • Communicate Head Office directives and operational updates effectively to all showrooms.
  • Ensure timely submission of checklists, registers, audit documents, and compliance reports.

9. Business Development & New Store Launch

  • Identify potential markets for new showrooms based on competition analysis, customer demographics, and regional demand.
  • Conduct market visits, feasibility studies, and prepare detailed reports for new showroom proposals.
  • Coordinate with Business Development, Projects, Admin, and Corporate teams for pre-launch planning and marketing.
  • Oversee the smooth opening of new showrooms and ensure complete operational readiness from Day One.

Location: Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Andhra and Telangana

Required Profile

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in any discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the jewellery retail industry, with proven experience managing a cluster of showrooms.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • High customer orientation with the ability to drive service excellence and sales growth.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
