Role Description The Area Business Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mandya, responsible for driving business growth and portfolio quality within the assigned area. This role involves managing and guiding a team of field staff, setting targets, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. The Area Business Manager will oversee lead generation, loan sourcing, customer onboarding, and portfolio management, including repayment follow-up and risk control. Daily activities include visiting branches and client locations, reviewing key metrics, resolving customer issues, and ensuring high standards of service and operational efficiency. The role also includes coordinating with senior management on business plans, market insights, and process improvements to support sustainable expansion in the region.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or branch/area management in financial services, microfinance, or MSME lending.
- Strong team leadership abilities, including coaching, performance management, and the ability to motivate field and branch staff.
- Solid understanding of credit assessment, portfolio management, and basic financial analysis for MSME and retail lending.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in Mandya, conduct frequent field visits, and adapt to diverse community and market environments.
- Comfort with data-driven decision-making, including using dashboards, reports, and basic MS Office or similar tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to financial inclusion, ethical practices, and responsible lending to low-income households and MSMEs.
