Role Description

The Architect role at Persistent Systems is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru South. The Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance technical solutions while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business goals. Day-to-day tasks include defining architectural frameworks, evaluating technologies, mentoring technical teams, reviewing system designs, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to drive the successful execution of projects.

About the Role

We are seeking a Architect to join our backend engineering team, focused on enterprise integrations across our digital experience and data management platforms. This role works across Sitecore, Reltio, and Workato — building and owning GraphQL APIs, managing serverless infrastructure on AWS, and operating within OpenShift/ROSA environments to keep data flowing reliably across the organization.

This is not primarily an architecture role. Patterns and system-level decisions will largely be defined by the broader engineering organization. What we need is a highly reliable senior implementer who executes complex integration work to a consistently high standard and serves as a technical anchor for the engineers working alongside them.

Key Responsibilities

•      Build and maintain custom TypeScript components

•      Implement and own complex GraphQL APIs that expose data from DxP, MDM, and iPaaS systems

•      Build and maintain data pipelines and integration workflows using Workato and related iPaaS tooling

•      Work with Reltio MDM to consume, transform, and route master data across connected systems with a high degree of reliability

•      Develop and support Sitecore integrations, ensuring consistent and performant data delivery to and from the DxP layer

•      Own deployment and operation of integration services on AWS serverless infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS)

•      Work confidently within Red Hat OpenShift / ROSA environments for container-based service deployment and management

•      Write clean, well-tested Python that serves as a quality reference for the broader team

•      Conduct code reviews for other engineers, providing clear and actionable technical feedback

•      Serve as a first point of escalation for technical questions and blockers from fellow engineers

•      Drive sprint-level scoping for integration work, decomposing complex problems into well-defined tasks

•      Own end-to-end investigation and resolution of integration and data issues in production

•      Reinforce established integration patterns, data contracts, and documentation standards across the team

•      Communicate status, blockers, and technical context clearly and proactively

Required Skills & Experience

•      8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience

•      Expert-level proficiency in Python for backend development and data transformation

•      Strong, demonstrable proficiency in TypeScript

•      Deep hands-on experience designing and building GraphQL APIs in production environments

•      Advanced experience with AWS serverless services including Lambda, API Gateway, and SQS/SNS

•      Proven experience working within Red Hat OpenShift or ROSA environments

•      Strong experience with iPaaS platforms, with direct experience using Workato strongly preferred

•      Solid knowledge of MDM concepts and hands-on experience integrating with platforms such as Reltio

•      Experience integrating with or developing on DxP platforms such as Sitecore

•      Proven ability to deliver complex integration work independently with minimal oversight

•      Strong code review skills with the ability to give constructive, technically grounded feedback

•      Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams and consistently meeting sprint commitments

•      Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex integration and data issues end-to-end

•      Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working asynchronously across time zones

Nice to Have

•      Familiarity with Django as a web framework

•      Experience with REST API design alongside GraphQL

•      Experience with data mapping, schema translation, or ETL processes

•      Exposure to event-driven integration patterns (webhooks, pub/sub, message queues)

•      Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and API gateway tooling

•      Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

•      Familiarity with Kubernetes or broader container orchestration concepts

 •      Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
