ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Engineering Architect to define and drive the long-term technology strategy for our Fintech & Payments Engineering Group.

You will provide architectural leadership across multiple product lines, partnering closely with Engineering Managers, Product leaders, and Business stakeholders to build resilient, scalable, secure, and AI-native financial platforms.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems at scale. You will influence technology direction across multiple teams, establish engineering standards, mentor senior engineers and architects, and ensure our platforms remain simple, extensible, and future-ready while operating at internet scale.

YOU (MUST HAVES)

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years designing and building payment or fintech systems.
• Expert-level system design skills — proven ability to architect complex, multi-system payment platforms from first principles.
• Deep hands-on experience with one or more payment domains: payment gateways, UPI integrations, card payment flows, BNPL/EMI engines, wallet infrastructure, or settlement and reconciliation systems.
• Mastery of distributed systems fundamentals in financial contexts: idempotency, exactly-once semantics, saga/outbox patterns, event sourcing, transactional messaging, and consistency models.
• Strong understanding of PCI-DSS, tokenisation, HSM-based key management, and secure API design for sensitive payment data.
• Solid grasp of Indian payments regulatory landscape: RBI guidelines, NPCI operating circulars, KYC/AML requirements.
• Exceptional coding ability — comfortable working in large, complex codebases; can lead and execute large-scale refactoring with zero regression.
• Proven technical mentorship — track record of elevating the system design capability of teams around you.
• BE/BTech in Computer Science or equivalent.

NICE TO HAVES

• Familiarity with TPAP (Third-Party Application Provider) architecture on the NPCI UPI stack.
• Experience in card processing — authorization, clearing, and settlement flows; working knowledge of card scheme rules and interchange economics.
• Understanding of credit risk architecture — bureau integrations, underwriting engines, loan management systems, or co-lending platforms.
• Experience designing real-time fraud detection systems — rule engines, graph analytics for fraud rings, or ML feature stores for transaction scoring.
• Participation in fintech/payments industry forums, standards bodies, or open-source projects.
