Architect

This role is with one of our portfolio companies.

We are seeking a hands-on Software Architect to shape technical direction, build scalable systems, and promote best engineering practices across the team. In this role, you will be instrumental in architecting and delivering products from the ground up while balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in ambiguity, and enjoys working in a fast-paced startup where technology directly influences business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• As a member of the Engineering Team, you will take ownership of the complete architecture for your product area, from design to delivery and beyond.
• Actively participating in coding while mentoring the team on engineering and design excellence.
• Leading system design, conducting code reviews, and facilitating architectural discussions to ensure the creation of clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
• Promoting engineering best practices in areas such as design patterns, testing, CI/CD, and performance optimization.
• Continuously assessing and adopting new technologies or frameworks that enhance reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.
• Defining the technical roadmap and architectural vision that align with business goals and product strategy.
• Collaborating closely with product and leadership teams to translate product ideas into robust technical solutions.
• Driving improvements in scalability, availability, and performance as the product and user base expand.
• Mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering a culture of technical curiosity and high standards within the team.
• Representing the team in internal and external technical discussions, sharing insights and advocating for engineering excellence.

Candidate Experience: Desired Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of proven experience as a Backend or Full Stack developer in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record of building and scaling highly available and reliable systems using a diverse set of technologies.
• Collaborate closely with business and product teams to understand requirements, drive design and architecture, and influence technology choices.
• Excellent problem-solving and system design skills, with a deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong experience with databases, caching, message queues, and other fundamental components of large-scale web systems.
• Strong mentorship and communication skills, with the ability to influence and elevate team standards.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments, driving clarity through decisive action.
