Mainframe DevOps Engineer – Skills Requirement
Must-Have Skills (in Order Of Priority)
- IBM DBB Expertise & Mainframe Build Process Knowledge
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB).
- Deep understanding of mainframe build processes, including compilation, linking, and
deployment workflows.
- Hands-on experience with the setup and usage of the IBM z/OS core collection and Ansible.
Experience using Ansible playbooks to run mainframe jobs.
- Strong track record in migrating legacy source code to Git repositories and setting up CI/CD
pipelines
- In depth knowledge of Deployment tools like IBM Wazi, UCD
- IBM DevOps Pipeline Setup
- Proven ability to design and implement DevOps pipelines for mainframe environments.
- Experience integrating mainframe with modern DevOps toolchains, specifically:
Source Control: GitHub (or equivalent)
CI/CD: Jenkins (or similar automation servers)
Repository Management: Familiarity with repository management solutions (e.g.,
Artifactory, Nexus).
Nice-to-Have / Additional Skills
- Scripting and Automation
- Proficiency in scripting languages, preferably Python, for automation and tooling.
- Ability to develop scripts to support build, deployment, and integration tasks.
