Overview
As a postgraduate in Environmental/ Water Resource Engineering, you will support the delivery of high-impact sewerage and drainage projects, contributing to sustainable solutions for communities and the environment. Working alongside experienced engineers and modellers, you will gain exposure to real-world projects while applying academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges.
Your role
- Assist in developing and supporting hydraulic models (1D/2D) for urban drainage and wastewater systems under guidance from senior engineers.
- Support model build, validation, and analysis activities, including:
- Data preparation and interpretation
- Model verification and performance checks
- Preliminary scenario testing and evaluation
- Collaborate with senior modellers to understand engineering constraints, assumptions, and practical considerations in modelling.
- Contribute to feasibility assessments and optioneering studies, helping evaluate sustainable engineering solutions.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation (e.g., scripting, data handling, or model workflows).
- Participate in team meetings and support documentation of technical outputs and research findings.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams to understand project delivery processes and client expectations.
About you
- M. Tech in Water Resources Engineering or Environmental Engineering graduating in 2026/2025.
- Basic understanding of:
- Hydraulics and urban drainage concepts
- Engineering mathematics and data analysis
- Familiarity (or willingness to learn) tools such as:
- InfoWorks ICM, SewerGEMS, HEC-RAS, QGIS, or similar
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a professional environment.
- Ability to manage academic and project responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrates genuine interest in water engineering / wastewater modelling.
- Curious, adaptable, and open to learning new tools and techniques.
- Able to translate theoretical knowledge into practical insights.
- Interested in pursuing a future career in water/environmental engineering.
- 6-12 Months with Potential continuation into a full-time opportunity (subject to performance).
