Job Title: Applied AI R&D Analyst , AVP

Location: Pune, India

Role Description

• The Deutsche Bank Innovation function within Chief Strategy Office drives the bank's Cloud and Innovation Strategy, thought leadership, technology partnerships and investments, as well as the execution of cloud transformation and cross-bank innovation solutions. The team enables the bank to accelerate and drive business led innovation, and to deliver revenue growth and operational efficiencies for all bank divisions and DB ecosystem of partners.
• As a Applied AI Analyst, you will be joining the AI Research & Development team, and contribute to the creation of new AI products and services for the entire DB Group. We require technical specialists to help research, design, and implement state of the art AI services, with particular focus on performing technology evaluations of AI products. You will make a real difference for senior stakeholders across core banking functions where computational, complexity and efficiency challenges abound - through your own delivery and through the promotion of modern AI development best practices and techniques.

Your key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy solutions using Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning / AI and cloud technologies that fulfil Deutsche Bank's Innovation Strategy.
• Conduct market research of AI products, including technology evaluations.
• Develop and maintain R&D artifacts including research papers, experiment logs, evaluation frameworks, and technical feasibility reports.
• Contribute to effective and efficient technical research and experiments, by publishing AI research report and building proof-of-concept (POCs).
• Drive hypothesis-driven research by designing experiments and benchmarking AI models and commercial technologies.
• Collaborate with the wider teams to explore future hypotheses and emerging technologies (LLMs, AI Agents, Automation, etc.).
• Foster adoption of AI and ML by collaborating with cross-functional teams and educating stakeholders on AI-driven solutions.
• Work collaboratively with developers and end-users to deliver working solutions and analytics, in an agile and iterative manner.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and Data Science.

Your skills and experience

• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for AI research.
• Experience with experimental design, hypothesis-driven research, and model evaluation methodologies.
• Ability to conduct technology benchmarking, vendor product assessments, and comparative evaluations of AI systems.
• Ability to interpret academic research, summarize findings, and produce R&D artefacts such as technical notes or experiment reports.
• Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (Python preferred), and relevant data science or engineering framework (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Spark, etc.).
• Experience of working with Cloud Platforms (GCP being a plus).
• Familiarity with solution architecture concepts and modern cloud-native components relevant to AI development.
• Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
• Good inter-personal skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Experience and Education

• University degree in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, etc.), preferably a Master's or Doctoral degree.
• 12+ years of overall IT experience and 4+ years in applying AI, machine learning and/or data science in business and/or academia.
