Application Support Engineer @ investment Banking

• Incident Management: Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, and ensure timely resolution to minimize downtime.
• Problem Management: Investigate and resolve recurring issues by identifying root causes and working with development teams to implement long-term fixes.
• System Monitoring: Utilize monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, Elastic Search) to proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Environment Management: Build and maintain both production and non-production environments, ensuring they are configured and functioning properly.
• Database Management: Work with databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries, understanding database performance, and addressing related issues.
• Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts using Python, Perl, Bash, or Shell to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Scheduler Management: Manage and troubleshoot job scheduling tools like Autosys, Control-M, ensuring tasks run smoothly.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to deploy new releases, patches, and updates with minimal impact on production environments.

Required Skills:

• Strong coding/scripting skills in Python, Perl, Bash, or Shell (proficiency in at least two).
• Proficient in SQL and Linux/Unix commands.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Exposure to highly distributed, high availability, and fault-tolerant systems.
• Deep understanding of database concepts, SQL queries, and database performance optimization.
• Experience with application monitoring and alerting tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, or Elastic Search.
• Familiarity with job schedulers such as Autosys and Control-M.
• Experience in building and maintaining production and non-production environments.
• Proficiency with development tools like GIT, Jenkins, Ansible, or Puppet.
